Default ICANN will reconsider on .xxx

icann.org/announcements/announcement-04jan07.htm

"ICM and ICANN Staff have been renegotiating a revised agreement in preparation for community review and board consideration. ICANN will post that agreement upon completion of the present round of discussions for public comment".

I don't think it will take two years, it seems that ICM will organize other nations to support on this and pressurize US Govt.

Even so the average time for a TLD to become operational, even if agreement is reached quickly, takes around two years - you just have to take a look at ICANN's own figures.

Our assumptions wont improve working of Government Organizations. I've been trying to communicate with ICANN for ICANN Accreditation but things seem to be impossible.

Verisign is offering that service but they will keep $6 per domain while ICANN gets on $0.25 per domain.

I am not sure why we need to go through Versign for ICANN Accreditation.

Isn't Verisign owned by ICANN?

ICANN is a government organization and verisign is private organization. There must be some relationship between people working on both but government company and private company cannot be affiliated directly.

Do you've followed the process as mentioned here ?; icann.org/registrars/accreditation-process.htm
For further assistance you may contact them at accredit@icann.org for Questions related to your application and also you can call the ICANN Registrar Application Helpline at +1-310-823-9358, extension 5814.

The article at theregister.co.uk/2005/10/25/verisign_icann_deal and the related ones are quite enlightening on the VeriSign/ICANN relationship.

Kev, that's extermly different case based on acid and alkali relationship Though VeriSign hase been rewarded for administrator of .com, but the community cannot assign it irrevocable rights to .com.

It was a sad day when ICANN rolled over for VeriSign. A strong argument for the responsibility being taken away from the US if you ask me.
