Default Dedicated or shared hosting plan

I am planning to start a new website. This website will be like a database that will contain information about the schools/colleges/universities that can be accessed by the people. I have read about various web hosting plans but I am not sure about which one I should opt for. Should I opt for a dedicated hosting plan initially? Or is it advisable to start with a shared hosting plan?

Hello Elise,

As you website will be fairly new, I guess there won't be a huge traffic initially. To begin with I suggest you to opt for cPanel shared hosting package. You can upgrade to a dedicated server as and when your requirement for resources increases.

Please feel free to ask, if you have any other questions.

A shared hosting package is where your account is setup on a shared server. The resources of the server on which your account would be created will be shared by other accounts created on the server also.

While a Dedicated server will be single Standalone server where the whole server and its resources will be dedicated only to your website.

The package you should choose depends on the amount of visitors you are expecting on your website. If only a few visitors will visit your website initially, a hosting hosting package should be fine. But, if you are expecting a large amount of visitors in a short span of time, a Dedicated server would be the best solution for it.

I think you will have to install one or more 3rd party applications on the server but I don't think that resources offered with a dedicated server would be actually needed by your website in the initial stages. Therefore, a Cloud server can be an ideal solution for you. It will allow you to install the applications you need and you can select the amount of resources you need with the server. Also, it's scalable so you will be able upgrade the resources of your Cloud server at any point of time.

When your planning to host a database for different facilities you should choose a dedicated hosting. Shared hosting can't handle the needed bandwidth for your website.

Dedicated hosting is the most ideal hosting platform for complex, high traffic websites that need to run demanding applications. If you would like to guarantee the uptime and if you are looking for managed dedicated server with superior performance and enhanced security, dedicated hosting is the right choice for you.

If you dont want the public to have access to the backend of your site, dont go for shared.
