Default Adding MX record to my account

Hi,

I have a query which isn't sorted, as i too have a restriction knowledge. I need to ask that I am using WHM to add new account and found that all the accounts created are having MX record of my account..

----------------------------------------------------------------
mydomain.com. 0

Guy will you help me in adding my new MX entries such as the following?

mx1.mydomain.com. 10
mx2.mydomain.com. 20

I can see I can add these in the zone template, but will these MX records work?
Do I require to setup a MX entry elsewhere within the WHM?

Thanks!

Hi there,

If you add that particular MX records in to the zone templates with the priorities, the zones with additional MX records will be applied for every new account you create. To add additional MX records for a single domain you can edit the zone for the domain OR you can set the MX records from cPanel(for respective domains) >> MX Entry.

Thanks Shane10.

I have two more question which i need to ask you,

1: do you think to resolve the above issues
is it necessary to add A record for mx1 and mx2 pointing to my IP, in the zone template ?

2: Can you do this, in cPanel X v2.6.0 ?

Hi,

Basically its really not necessary to add A records to get work with this. You have to use the External mail servers those are working. Here is an example on adding MX record from WHM -

domain name | TTL | Record Type | Priority | MX Record
------------------------------------------------------------------
example.com. | 14400 | MX | 10 | mx1.example.com.
example.com. | 14400 | MX | 20 | mx2.example.com.
------------------------------------------------------------------
You have to click on “Save” at the bottom of the window. Allow couple of hours to propagate and approximately with in 12 - 16 hour you're entire work is done !

Do you mean that you need to edit the MX records within theme of cPanel X v2.6.0" ? If your answer is yes, then do look for the option "Modify MX Entry" under "E-Mail" in cPanel .
