Is it possible to view mail logs from within CPanel?

Or, alternatively, to log in via SSH and view them from the command line..?

It is not possible to view mail logs from CPanel but there is one WHM add-on available to check the logs by using WHM. If you have dedicated server then you can install it on your server and access the mail logs from WHM >>Add-Ons >> LogView - File System Log Viewer option.

Sorry, but it is not possible to view the email logs through cPanel with the shared cPanel setup.
If you require the email logs for incoming and outgoing emails from the domain, you can place us an email at support[@]webhosting.uk.com. We will provide you with the email logs.

What exactly will the error log show? If there's a bounce back email will it not include in error logs in cpanel?

It does not include any mail logs. It will displays the last 300 errors that have occurred on your website.

Ah well, apparently it's not possible for me to view mail logs myself... The copy I was provided with was strangely small (it didn't include any reference to mail I'd received in the preceding couple of hours). It would be useful to be able to view these logs in order to be able to diagnose problems without having to bother the support dudes.

Well if you are keep to check the mail logs for your domain then you can go for a server with root access where you have complete access to all of the log files
