Default Add-on or sub-domain?

I am still a bit confused about add-on domains and sub-domains. Let me explain what I want to achive.

I have, on my own server, one website and two blogs:
(sorry for the [dot] but I'm not allowed to post URLs yet)
- www[dot]troccoli[dot]it
- menudelgiorno[dot]troccoli[dot]it
- menuoftheday[dot]troccoli[dot]it

Each website has it's own directory on the server
- /home/webmaster/troccoli.it/www
- /home/webmaster/troccoli.it/menudelgiorno
- /home/webmaster/troccoli.it/menuoftheday

I have recently register with WHUK and I am trying to set everything up before switching.

I don't know at the moment whether I created add-ons or subdomains (I'm at work and I can't access my cPanel becuase of the firewall), but the situations is that
- my main website (www[dot]troccoli[dot]it) is in public_html
- my Italian blog (menudelgiorno[dot]troccoli[dot]it) is in public_html/menudelgiorno
- my English blog (menuoftheday[dot]troccoli[dot]it) is in public_html/menuoftheday

AFAIK however, if, after the swtich, I go to www[dot]troccoli[dot]it/menudelgiorno I would indeed get the Italian blog. THIS is what I would like to avoid. Is it possible? If so, how?

Hello,

If you add your blogs as sub-domains then, you'll need to set a redirect for your http://troccoli.it/your_blogs to http://yourblogs.troccoli.it so that,if a person browses http://troccoli.it/yourblogs then he/she will be redirected to http://your_blogs.troccoli.it .

And if in case you add them as a addon domain then, the sub-directories will get auto created for your blogs under public_html/folder and you'll just need to upload your blog data to their respective directories so that when any one browse your addon domains, they will get directly connected to your blogs.

Hope this will clear your doubts about sub-domains and addon domains..

Regards,
VConnor,
Support Team.

Thanks VConnor.

However, my blogs are already sub-domains and if I try and redirect as you suggest I get the following error message

You cannot redirect menudelgiorno to http//menudelgiorno[dot]troccoli[dot]it as will cause a redirection loop because /home/troccoli/public_html/menudelgiorno is at the same place as /home/troccoli/public_html/menudelgiorno.

I thought I posted the result of my chat with support for completeness.

Basically they told me that it is possible to do what I was looking to do. They would need to take the menudelgiorno directory out of public_html and I would need to change the configuration of the blog (it's a table in the database, don't remember exactly which one at the moment). To do that I would need to raise a ticket.

So it is technically possible. In the end though I have decided to leave things as they are. That's becuase I will most likely creare new blogs and I don't want to raise a ticket every time. The fact that the blog can be access by menudelgiorno.troccoli.it and by www.troccoli.it/menudelgiorno is a minor glich I can live with.
