In order to create a FTP account for your addon you will have to login to the cPanel of the primary domain under which the addon domain exists.
Once you have logged in the the cPanel of the main domain you can navigate to Files >> FTP Accounts. Create the FTP account with the directory entry configured to the directory where the domain contents are placed. (Eg: /home/public_html/test.com where test.com is addon domain and the contents for the domain are located in this folder.) Please ensure the created FTP account will be created with the main domain name. (Eg: test@maindomain.com)

Whenever you plan to add any of your addon domain in your main domain's cPanel interface. Their you will get the default FTP user name, this procedure is get's auto created with the addon domain's folder access. With such FTP user name, you can directly access your addon domain's directory. If in case, you wan't to add the additional FTP users for the addon domains then you have to just create via the main domain name. You just have to make sure that you'r are typing the addon domain's folder name in the Directory:/ option like as follows.

--------------------------------------------------------------
Login: FTP_USER_NAME@your_main_domain.com
Password:
Password (Again):
Directory: public_html/addon_domain's_directory
--------------------------------------------------------------
So ultimately, all the FTP accounts will contain your main domain name in their names, but they will have different directory access levels.
