Plesk Hositng vs. DNP Hosting (Dot Net Panel)
I just got a website link while accessing my Twitter account. It redirected me to your blog article with the headline as Plesk vs. DNP (Dot Net Panel).
The first statement from second paragraph of an article says "Dot Net Panel has many features which Plesk lacks, such as support for Hyper-V VPS server hosting services as well as Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 email hosting services.....". Does it mean that even if I do not have a Dedicated Server, I can use MS Exchange Services? Is it really possible to use it on shared plans?

Shame this didn't turn into a discussion, I have had a few problems with DNP and am changing to Plesk so I hoped I might find some opinions here.
I found DNP to be clumsy in the way that it handles sub-domains and I thought it odd that all the email accounts appear in one long list rather than being separated by domain. DNP certainly looks more modern and user-friendly but Plesk seems to offer far more flexibility and works in a more logical fashion to my mind so I'm looking forward to using it "in anger".

Yes, it's ture that Dotnet panel support Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint, Dynamics CRM, and BlackBerry as additional services in shared server eviroment. Windows hosting companies have to manage virtual private servers using the DotNetPanel Hyper-V solution.
DotnetPanel has designed diffrent modules for shared hosting so even you don't own dedicated server you can use feature like Microsoft Exchange in shared enviroment if the modules installed on your shred server.
We have DotnetPanel setup for classical web hosting so you will not get Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint, Dynamics CRM, and BlackBerry feature with our current DNP setup.

@Simon Patten
Yes, both DotNetPanel & Plesk control panels have different structures and managment interface. It seems that Plesk control panel offers you good interface to manage sub-domains and email accounts as compared to DotnetPanel.

Both systems do vary - it then comes down to a matter of personal choice. I have used both Plesk and DNP, but primarily I am used to DNP better. However, Plesk is not bad, it is just different. Personal choice again

Plesk has been in this industry for a long time and has been preferred by most of the users of Windows hosting packages and servers and hence it certainly has a benefit over Dotnetpanel as for now.
However, some of the users found Dotnetpanel better and faster than Plesk in terms of performance and features.
Hence, choosing the control panel will depend on your requirements and the kind of interface you would prefer.
It is better to check a demo of the control panel before choosing it which can give you an idea about the interface and some of the features

Though DNP have few issues with email accounts and sub-domains but overall it's interface is quite better as compare to Plesk, after all its your grasping power for adopting new things

I have now changed to Plesk and pretty much echo the comments above. DNP is great for fairly non-technical users and it looks nice too, whereas Plesk looks daunting but is much more powerful and, to my mind, more logical.
I can now do everything I wanted so all is well here
Thanks for the comments guys.

DNP has a quite easy interface and it is faster in comparison to Plesk. However, I think it would be better if some more options would be available in Dotnetpanel.

Caroline, what specific options / features you would like to see under DNP.
Actually there are many advance features bundled with Dotnetpanel like support for Exchange Server, clustered web hosting etc... which makes it unique and powerful website hosting control panel !!!

Well, frankly speaking, I have not used dotnetpanel till now, however, I have checked it's demo and I have noticed that some of the options are available in dotnetpanel control panel, however, it is a bit difficult to find those options.
Whereas, if you notice in Plesk, you will find most of the options on the main website screen itself which seems to be a bit more user friendly. However, this is just my opinion

I hate that moving plesk wheel which keeps you waiting and waiting and waiting. I am not sure how one small problem with DNP can make Plesk better, but we offer both control panels and customers are most welcome to choose Plesk or DNP.
