What is VMforce?

Can any one help me to explain or can any one have an idea regarding what Vmforce is exactly or what is , can someone define me what it is all about ?

Vmforce is a joint venture of VMware, and Salesforce. What is it? The Three components Vmforce includes:

1. Salesforce:- This app is one of the most advanced provider of online business applications. Saleforce has a "cloud" platform Force(dot)com, with their specific tools and programming language.
2. SpringSource is also one of the important web application provider, which provides Java-based web applications. Spring source has arsenal excellent development tools and application server.
3. VMware - VMware one of the important virtualization web solutions provider for IT-infrastructure, with its flagship product vSphere.

IMO, VMforce is an alternative to the Google App Services. VMforce basically use the physical web servers, Force.com infrastructure to run a modified version of vSphere. This improve s the performance as well as enables the improved scalability and management. On top of a virtual infrastructure it is running a Java-based applications spring source server. The same application use its tools and rich features of Force.com.
