VMforce—the first enterprise cloud for Java developers. With VMforce, Java developers can build apps that are instantly social and available on mobile devices in real time. And it’s all in the cloud, so there’s no hardware to manage and no software stack to install, patch, tune, or upgrade. Building Java apps on VMforce is easy!

In Cloud Hosting : instant expandability and high-performance.

In Shared Hosting : allows multiple users to host web sites on the same server.

You can choose which suits your requirements.

VMforce is a cloud computing service that enables the Java developers to incorporate enterprise applications in the cloud server. VMforce does not have a hardware to manage and there is also no software stack to be installed. The applications powered by VMforce is automatically scalable; therefore the developers and clients don’t have to worry about upgrading the servers and databases.

Vmforce is a joint venture of VMware, and Salesforce. What is it? The best answer, is that mentioned on SpringSource Blog, the one who bought VMware for even more "clouds" and to market PaaS and works on three components.Salesforce, SpringSource, VMware are the most important application which work as per the application. T hies three are one of the most important application, which are used by majority of IT organization.

The Three components Vmforce includes:

2. SpringSource is also one of the important web application provider, which provides Java-based web applications. Spring source has arsenal excellent development tools and application server.
3. VMware - VMware one of the important virtualization web solutions provider for IT-infrastructure, with its flagship product vSphere.

IMO, VMforce is an alternative to the Google App Services. VMforce basically use the physical web servers, Force.com infrastructure to run a modified version of vSphere. This improve s the performance as well as enables the improved scalability and management. On top of a virtual infrastructure it is running a Java-based applications spring source server. The same application use its tools and rich features of Force.com.

What software applications have to be installed in order to use Vmforce? Is it important to have the Java support for using Vmforce?

The principal advantage of cloud hosting services is that you get unlimited resources for the profitable running of your website. This is far more reliable and secure than any other hosting kinds obtainable on the internet.
