i run a game server, and my website runs of 4 differant servers.

1. The website and mail, this is linux.
2. Forums, this is run from windows 2003.
3. Auto patcher, this is windows 2003.
4. Client download, this is linux.

I use windows 2003 servers, as i can remote desktop to them and change files in real time without having to keep upload files via FTP. My auto patch is updated almost weekly, and is almost 6 gigs in total, so being able to edit file on the server and people being able to get the lastest verison staight away makes my life so much easier, and saves a lot of up loading.

My website, which has been the same for almost 2 years, is on linux, cus it cheap, and i hardly ever need to update the site, the site reads from my other windows servers to update the info that is in real time.

Depending on how big ur site is, how offen you are going to update your site will be a big factor when it comes to pciking your hosting. I started off 100% linux, uploading info via FTP, but as my game got bigger my needs got bigger.

I do perfer the windows server as i can use remote desktop which for me is better then control panels.
